2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06

Chevy said its new Z06 will sprint to 60 in less than 3 seconds, 2.95, to be correct. Look for a 10.95 quarter mile said the maker. Those times are with the eight-speed paddle-shift automatic since the 0-60 run comes to 3.2 with the seven speed manual. It is the first Corvette with a supercharged engine – SAE certified at 650 hp with 650 lb-ft of torque. Base price, since you are probably wondering, comes to $78,995 for the coupe and $83,995 for the convertible. The new Stingray is not gathering dust in showrooms with sales up 231 percent this year.

While many auto makers posted sales increases last month, there are some indications of a slowdown from the record levels of August. The biggest sellers by category were large SUV’s and crossovers.

Forget hot-wiring a car. Thieves are now using stolen identities to steal cars and trucks, according to the National Insurance Crime Bureau. In essence, they use stolen ID’s to lease or purchase a car, change the VIN number, and then resell it to unsuspecting consumers. One group fraudulently leased five vehicles worth more than $300,000 which they later planned to sell. “It’s comparable to a hacker stealing IDs – you don’t know you’re a victim until it’s too late,” said one NICB official.
