Auto News for June 14 _ Historic Plant Bought Back

General Motors has completed production of 130 Chevrolet Bolt EV test vehicles equipped with what it calls the next generation of self-driving technology. The cars will be joining already deployed test fleets in three cities. The Bolts feature cameras, sensors, radar and other hardware designed to accelerate development of a safe and reliable fully autonomous vehicle, GM said.

Tomorrow is a big day for those waiting to purchase a hot Honda Civic Type R, for that is the day the R goes on sale here in the U.S. It is said to be the most powerful production Honda ever sold here with 306 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. The MSRP is $33,390 but look for Honda dealers to tack on a stiff mark up on that. My bet is that you will not get close to one for less than $40K.

The Morgan sports car is one of those vintage drives that should stir the soul of anyone who likes to drive. Now the company has re-acquired the land its historic factory sits on in Malvern, England. It sold the land years ago to finance additional product development. Malvern has been the home of the sports car maker for 108 years and Morgan recently announced a 14 percent year-on-year revenue growth.

Kia announced 16 consecutive months of record sales of pre-owned vehicles. It sold just over 7,000 in May.
