Going on sale today is an interesting Acura with the tongue twisting name of RLX Sport Hybrid SH-AWD. It sports a 3.5-liter V6 with a 7-speed dual clutch transmission and three electric motors for a total system rating of 377 horsepower. One electric motor helps power the front wheels, two electric motors take care of the rear wheels. Acura claims an EPA rating of 29/30/29 miles per gallon and an MSRP of $59,950. No performance figures were released.
We are paying more to acquire a new car or truck. Kelley Blue Book reports the estimated average transaction price was $34,948 in November. New car prices have increased by $581 or 1.7 percent from November 2015. The reason? The shift in consumer preference from cars to more expensive trucks and SUV’s, KBB said. It added that the subcompact utility segment, which is the fastest growing segment in the industry this year, is showing signs of slowing, with prices falling by one percent, thanks to higher discounts used to sell down excess inventory.
