Auto News for Oct. 19

Malaysia’s Sultan of Johor had Mack trucks of Australia craft him a semi like no other. It is so special that I can’t tell you how much it costs but I do know it has taken Mack a year to build it. The sultan was said to be joyously happy to take delivery of it the other day with its solid gold tiger hood ornament, 72,000 stitches of gold thread inside, along with a BBQ, two flat screen TV’s, and it’s own closed circuit TV system with six cameras. Why would he want such a truck? He said it will be used to tow his boat.

When Honda’s revamped Civic goes on sale in mid-November prices will start at $18,640 for a base model LX on up to $26,500 for a Touring sedan with the 1.5-liter turbo engine. With the 1.5 turbo, gas mileage will be 31 mpg in town, 41 highway for a combined 35 mpg according to the EPA. Just in time for winter, the top-of-the-line EX-L will come with heated seats front and rear.

It doesn’t seem possible, yet BMW reports it has been making all-wheel-drive vehicles for 30 years now. Roughly one in three models sold globally are equipped with it and it is now available in a dozen different model series including the i8 sports car.
