BMW said its 2016 340i will be the first model to feature an all-new 6 cylinder twin scroll turbo engine rated at 320 horsepower with peak torque of 330 lb-ft. Equipped with an 8 speed transmission BMW said it will accelerate from 0-60 in just 4.8 seconds. A 6-speed manual will be available as a no cost option on four of the 3-series models for 2016. Also, the company will unveil the 330e Plug-In Hybrid with a combined output of around 250 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. It said the car will be capable of traveling up to 22 miles in ell-electric mode.

Tesla lost less money than analysts expected in its most recent quarter posting an adjusted net loss of $45 million or 36 cents a share. The experts were expecting a setback of 50 cents a share. It said demand has been strong for its just announced Powerwall Battery Storage unit and it maintains that the long awaited Model X Sport Utility Vehicle will hit the market late in the third quarter.

A transport museum and a classic car insurance firm will team up next month in an attempt to set a new Guinness record for the largest parade of classic automobiles. They also hope to establish a new record for the largest parade of Jaguar cars. Two-thousand classics are needed to set the record in the parade to be held in Coventry, England on June 14th.

Hertz said it can now rent you a Mercedes Benz C-Class, a Porsche Macan Turbo or a hot performing MB CLA45 AMG model. No word on the daily rate.
