In case you were wondering, here are the top selling vehicles in February:
- Ford F-150
- Chevy Silverado
- Toyota Camry
- Ram pickup
- Nissan Altima
- Toyota Corolla
- Ford Fusion
- Honda CR-V
- Toyota RAV4
- Chevy Equinox
The bad weather over much of the country and rising gas prices are being cited as the reasons why sales were lower than expected for the Detroit three, according to Kelley Blue Book Analyst Akshay Anand. He does not think that February marked the start of any downward trend.
Automotive News points out that Toyota outsold Ford last month thanks to demand for the RAV4, 4Runner and Lexus crossovers. And for the second month in a row, Nissan outsold Honda thanks to its luxury Infiniti lineup.
Yet Honda sales were up 5 percent, VW was down 5.2 percent, Kia was up almost 7 percent, Subaru reported record February sales, and Mitsubishi reported its best February sales in seven years.
Chevy will use the New York Auto Show in April to show off the “next-generation” Chevy Malibu. Starting with a clean slate, Chevy said the car will be nearly four inches longer and about 300 pounds lighter than the current offering. The car in the teaser photo is expected to go on sale by the end of the year.
