When it comes to the process of purchasing a new vehicle, J.D. Power reports that consumers rank Mercedes at the top of the list. Mini ranked highest among mass market brands. Power said dealer product specialists are becoming more important because they can explain how the advanced technology features work – items that for many consumers are too complex to operate without help. In many cases, the experts may conduct follow up sessions with the customer to make sure they understand how the bells ring and the whistles shrill.

2015 Dodge Challenger SRT with the HEMI® Hellcat engine

Dodge and SRT received more than 4,500 orders for the Challenger Hellcat in the first five days after orders were opened. Now the 707 horsepower Hellcats are being shipped to dealers. Since your next question is how much, the starting price, sans transportation, is $59,995 for a 6.2-liter HEMI V-8 that carries a quarter mile time of 11.2 seconds at 125 mph – on smoking street tires.

VW Golf R 400

VW said two concept cars will make their U.S. debut at next week’s L.A. auto show. Based on a rally car, the Golf R 400 features a 2.0-liter four with 394 horsepower that will get you to 60 in just 3.9 seconds. VW claims 332 lb-ft of torque from 2,400 to 6,000 rpm.

The GTI Roadster concept will also have its coming out party in L.A. The two-seater has a 3.0-liter twin turbo V6 with 503 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque and a dual clutch 7-speed automatic. Weighing just 3,133 pounds, the convertible will sprint from 0-60 in an estimated 3.5 seconds with a top speed of only 192 mph.

Honda has signed a new deal to remain as the “exclusive” auto company of the National Hockey League in the U.S. and Canada. Does this mean we will see big, brawny hockey players in Civics or Fits?

Hertz announced it will purchase roughly 350,000 model year 2015 vehicles, approximately 60 percent more than last year. At the same time, the company announced a $100 million Cost Reduction Program through reduced general and administrating expenses and a previously announced freeze of its pension plans among other steps.
