Auto makers release their August sales reports tomorrow, and when all is said and done, that person with the big smile on his face is likely your local dealer. Most forecasters think sales will work out to a yearly pace of 16-million for the sixth month in a row. Sales are predicted to come out ahead of August of 2013 despite one less selling day. The happiest dealers are expected to be those with Chrysler products on their lot, along with Nissan and Hyundai.

A big change in the executive suite. Automotive News reports that Nissan’s planning chief will leave the automaker to become CEO at Aston Martin. The CEO’s position at Aston has been vacant since last November. Certainly, going home in an Aston Martin Rapide S is not the worst thing in the world.

The all electric Soul will go on sale in California in the third quarter and to get ready Kia will add 17 fast charging stations to the state’s existing network of 198. It says the stations will be able to charge the battery from empty to 80 percent in about 33 minutes.

On September 8th Jaguar will reveal more about its new aluminum bodied mid-size sport sedan, the XE, at two events in London. It is said to carry a new family of engines with “thrilling performance” and “outstanding refinement and fuel efficiency.” The full range will be displayed at the Paris Auto Show in October.
