Hybrid reports that clean diesel car sales are up 25 percent during the first half of the year. It said consumers are embracing the benefits of clean diesel technology at a time when diesel fuel prices have trended upward. Diesel powered cars and trucks still make up only three percent of the overall market.

Stealing a page out of the old Saturn playbook, Mitsubishi will hold a party for its owners at the company’s HQ in Cypress, California. Thousands of owners are expected to attend the event on July 12th. The company will debut its “Concept XR-PHEV” plug-in hybrid electric crossover with a 1.1 liter turbocharged engine. To make sure no one gets tired, there will be free Red Bull samples.

Global deliveries are up 23 percent at Bentley with 2014 on track to become its most successful year. New model introductions helped spur the sales increase with the Continental GT V8 S coupe and convertible among the hotter properties. The drop top is pictured.

Are things picking up in Europe for U.S. automakers? Ford said sales volume in its 20 traditional markets there rose 6.6 percent in the first half.
